  1. Okay, first off I have read all the threads in here and have had no answers that solve my problem yet. I have also tried every tutorial I've seen on here, divxdigest or doom9. My problem is everytime I try to convert divx or xvid to vcd/mpeg, I have problems playing on my standalone DVD player (GE1101). It always works fine on my computer and all other vcds work fine on my DVD player. The problem is that when I play a comverted VCD in my standalone, the video (every 5-10 minutes or so) skips ahead quickly, kind of jumps forward in fast forward, and then comes back to normal and resumes fine. It's okay to watch but definitely annoying. I can't figure out if it's something wrong with my DVD player or something I am doing with the conversion.

I use TMPGenc to convert/split and I use Nero 5.5+ to burn. I have also tried to convert the audio etc. w/ VirtualDub.

Well, I hope someone can help me out as I would love to figure this out. If it is my DVD player, I'll just return it.

    Thanks in advance!

    The compatability reports seem good.

If you can play regular DVD's and/or othe VCD's then I guess the players ok.
I have the 1101p and it is terrific ...plays everything.
I would check a couple of things.
First, sometimes splitting and MPEG can cause some problems (I get around this by splitting during the encode process using the source range settings and batch encode).
I also agree with you using Virtualdub to extract the audio as a WAV to use as audio source in TMPGE.
Lastly, rather than wasting any Cd-r's try a 5 minute test encode using a CDRW and practice until you get it right.
