  1. Over the past couple of months I have been encoding old VHS Home movies using TMPGenc - while awaiting a DVD burner.

I finally got the burner and DVDMaestro and am now trying to compose a DVD.

I am new to using DVDMaestro. The problem I am having, is that when I try and bring any of my MPEG files into the ASSET Bin in Maestro - it gives me an "Media Not Supported Error".

All of my VHS to MPEG conversions were made at:
    MPEG-2 352x480 29.97fps VBR 2520kbps, Layer-2 48000Hz 224kbps
I believe this is a valid DVD format!

To further try to solve the problem - I encoded a video using the DVD template in TMPGenc - and that file gives me the same error!

What am I doing wrong? Is Maestro really that picky? Does it not like Mpegs encoded by TMPGenc?

    Thanks for any help!

  2. I work with TMPGenc and Maestro withtout that kind of problem.

I can't verify this right now but you probably have to add the video and audio into the asset bin SEPARETLY.

  3. So when you get done encoding with TMPGenc - you split the audio and video? I will have to try that.

Why cant it import it all together?

  4. Well DVDMaestro is really THE high end authoring software where it's very common to use more than one audio track from mpeg audio to DTS.

  5. What program do you use to spilt the Video and Audio? Do you have TMPGenc setup to output the audio and video seperate?

I am having trouble trying to find a way to split my existing files

    Thanks for all the help.

  6. You could encode the audio and the video separetly in the future but you can split your existing files with TMPGenc with the MPEG tools option that you should find the first menu and then the "simple de-multiplex" or something like that.

  7. Interesting - I split the Video and Audio. Now Maestro will import the Video - but it does not like the Audio.

The Audio is (after being slpit) in MP2 format:
    MPEG-Layer 1 48KHZ 224kbps

    Any ideas?

  8. That should read MPEG1 - Audio Layer2 224kbps 48KHz

  9. That could explain the problem in the first place but i don't know what is wrong with your audio.

Maybe you should decompress your audio to full .wav (with winamp for instance) and then recompress it with TMPGenc.

  10. After rebooting my system - now Maestro works and imports the split Audio and Video coming out of TMPGenc - didnt have to change anything - I guess it just didnt like me!

But now when I try and place my video asset into a MOVIE - I get the error that "The Video Asset length is greater than maximum allowed"!

Any ideas? My video file is 22minutes - about 410Mb (352x480)

    Thanks alot!

  11. Your DVDMaestro sounds like it's not working quite well.
    What's the version ?

  12. Version 2.5 SP1

    It does seem really buggy!

    What version do you use?

  13. Yeah, you can't use that one.
    2.9 is the thing.
