  1. I have been through this site forreward and backwards to no avail.

I have the latest version of nero firmware update 1.31 on my pioneer DVR-104 and I am using a Memorex DVD-RW that has been erased and is ready to be burnt to.

I have been trying to convert a vcd to dvd-r. I have converted to mpg, demuxed, converted the audio to 48hz. I have read the vcd to dvd how to page on this site but it leaves out a little for a newbie.

Can you just add the files to the video folder like it says, this hasn't been working for me. Do you have to convert them further to .vob, .ifo, and .bup files? Do you use the dvd-video format or the dvd-rom (udf/iso) format to burn?

    What do I do?!?!?

Any help would be more than appreciated

You must author the mpg video files first
    www.vcdhelp.com/author#dvd

ít works very good with spruceup.

  3. There's very little point to convert vcd to dvd, try a better
source cause you probably wont like what you get anyway..

Musher: The main point of VCD-DVD is when you have a lot of material already in VCD format (and you don't have the source). So if you have 5 hours of VCD material you want to put on one disc, you can do that with VCD-DVD. There would be no real point to converting the video to mpeg2, so leaving it as mpeg1 in vcd spec (with 48k audio) would work just fine. You won't loose any quality since you don't need to re-encode the video, so as long as your original VCD was good (for VCD) the disc will look fine.

  5. Thanks for the response. The reason for my conversion is that I do have lots of vcds that I need to convert.

I kind of suspected that I needed to author it. I already downloaded spruce up but it only has 2 exports and I messed those up. I am lead to believe that you can no longer purchase spruce up so what program am I looking at to author now? Are there any good freeware programs? I am tempted to use Ulead DVD movie factory but it looks pretty basic. I could use ifoedit ? but it won't have menus or chapters. I don't want to spend over $100 but want a program to help me out.

    Thanks
