Can anyone tell me the difference between these two types of media. And how can i tell which is which when loaded in to a pc?

Briefly, they are two different types of media and formats which are used to create DVDs from your computer. If you are not sure what kind of media your burner takes, visit the manufacturer's web site. If you already have the files on your PC, the format is non existent. In other words, if you have the VOB files on your hard drive, you can burn them as either DVD-R or DVD+R depending on your burner.
