  1. Just hooked up my new ADVC-100 to a Belkin Firewire Card (uses Texas Instruments chipset). When I try to capture with Premiere 6.5 nothing shows up in the capture screen. It's like no signal is getting through that Premiere can detect. Any suggestions?

I don't know about Premiere 6.5, but I could never get a decent capture with Premiere 6.0 and my ADVC-100. I use Pinnacle DV Express or the Ulead software that came with my Firewire card to capture and then do the editing in Premiere.

  3. Please read known issues with ADVC at the Canopus website. It isn't compatible with TI chipsets.

Try switching hardware control off in premere.

Also has the device ie the ADVC been detected in System as sort of capture device?

Also test things are working with the freeware DVIO app

    A slight update

Check to make sure device is in system.
Usually under Imaging Device it will say something like
    "Microsoft DV Camera and VCR"

In Premiere 6 or above check that in "DV Device Control Options" that
Video Standards set to PAL or NTSC
    Device Brand = Generic
    Device Model = Generic
    Timecode Format = Non Drop-Frame

and its status should be online
