  1. I hope someone can help me. I own an i/o magic PC PVR capturing with Cyberlink PVCR II. It has worked great for a long time. I am trying to improve capture quality and went through a bunch of stuff I had previously downloaded. I think that I accidentally installed something because now when I capture, the captured file has a logo added in the upper right hand corner.

It seems to me that this has probably been added by a codec of some sort. It appears to me that the logo is probably a watermark of some sort. The logo is a 3 by 3 group of blocks, with a dot in the upper right of the 9 dots. I checked my Add/Remove programs list and I don't see anything that looks new, but I may be missing something.

Anyone have any ideas on how to remove this? If not, does anyone know how to re-arrange codec order so that I can try to REM out the offending codec?

I did remove and reinstall PVCR II to see if that would help. It did not work.

    Any help is appreciated.

  2. I have seen a post on the forums with this exact problem, I think it is a codec issue, but I can't remember which one. Try searching the forum you may find your answer.

  3. Try changing your capture target to try specific codecs. MJPEG, Huffy, etc. Haven't seen this but it must be some ADDED codec rather than one that came with the program, UNLESS you had to register it or something when first installed?

  4. Could it be this.

I'm not sure why so many people recommend the ELECARD codec for MPEG2 when there's a free one without the annoying Logo and without messing up playback of other codecs (which went away for me once I uninstalled it).

  5. Thanks for the replies. I did try to search the forums. I searched for logo, capture, nine squares, codec etc (in various combinations) and looked through all of the responses to no avail. Any ideas on what the specific message was? Or at least which forum and around what date?

As for as registering the software is concerned, PVCR II isn't the problem. It has been reregistered but the problem was there before reinstalling. I just tried to reinstall the software hoping that would solve the problem. It is possible that the codec that was installed accidently (if that is indeed the problem) needs to be registered, but since I don't know what got installed, I don't know how to register it or uninstall it.

  6. ************************************************** ********
OK, ELECARD seems to have been the issue. It doesn't show up in Add/Remove Programs but does show under Start-Programs. I have now removed it, but now my captured files don't play in Windows Media Player. Just great! After years of capturing just fine I now have my first problems. Don't you just love it!

    Any ideas on fixing WMP?
    ************************************************** ********

OK, so WMP now plays fine (not sure what I did but it worked.) As an interesting side note, the logo apparently only played back when I played my MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 files, but was note part of the actual video stream. All files captured during my test now play back fine with no logo.

Just thought someone might like to know.

BTW, this is obviously a good reason to archive, delete, rename or otherwise neuter a program downloaded some time ago so that you don't accidentally run or otherwise reinstall some old program that no longer works.

  9. If these are mpeg2 files that you now can't play could be that you have no other mpeg2 codec installed on your system. Either install a software DVD player such as winDVD or install the mpeg2 codec from the tools section.
