  1. I want to make a highlight film of a fighter that's a friend of mine. I want to use the clips I have on DVD, edit them, add some effects and a music track and then burn it to DVD. It seems that all the tutorials are for VCD.

Read up on DVD ripping. After, of course, you read the Newbie Guides. Once you ripped the DVD, the files should then be converted to MPEG files, where you can use a program like TMPGEnc, to edit them, and then add a soundtrack(s). I suggested the plural form, because this friend may appreciate it in addition to the background music, someone does a voice over as well.
    Hello.

  3. Thanks man. Will I have to convert the MPEG back to VOB after? Will I loose any video quality during the transfers?

I am afraid you will lose a little quality, which cannot be helped. You use the templates in TMPGEnc to convert your MPEG files to a type that is perfect for DVD, and then burn using your favorite burner program. As for reducing the amout of quality lost during encoding, this guide may help keep it to a minimum.
    Hello.
