Problem: whenever i skip ahead to a chapter, the video plays w/ no audio. also, the screen periodically blacks out for a split second every second or so. movie plays fine as long as i start from the begining.
Info: as the subject says, this is with a VBR Mpeg2 file. my source was roughly and hour and 10 minutes of DV footage, used the mpeg2 NTSC template in TMpegEnc, 2 pass VBR. for GOP settings i selected create bitstream for editing and also forced frame types so i would be sure to get chapter points where i wanted them.
i then changed the stream header to standard VCD and authored my VCD w/ no problems (b/c my DVD player has problems with SVCD).
everything works perfectly except for the problem mentioned above. the chapters seem to be in the right places also.
I'm playing it on a panasonic DVD player, haven't had the chance to test it on another unit...
my thought is that 's b/c i encoded VBR. anyone have any experience with this type of problem?
my cpu should be done encoding a cbr version by the time i get home but i won't be able to test it out until next week.
