  1. I purchased a HP computer with the new microsoft media center os. The media center records from TV in a dvr-ms file format. Does anybody know anything about this format. I would like to export these files to antoher more useable file format.

  5. I've been poking around with converting the ms dvr files to AVI using
graphedit. I've had a problem in that the conversion runs for a while, then dies with an error message that
"The sample start time is before the end time".

I have discovered more or less what this is. The audio stream coming
out of the decoders appears to "hiccup". The hiccup takes the form of
an IMediaSample that has the "discontinuity" bit set. It also has its
timestamp reset to zero and this is what graphedit is complaining
    about.

I was able to get complete conversion of ONLY the video portion of the
file by running the audio into the Default DirectSound renderer.
During the initial part of the conversion you hear the soundtrack.
When the hiccup occurs, the sound stops, but the conversion continues.
