Got this subtitles file that I'd like to edit, but as I'm new to the subtitles business, I don't know what format it really is in:

It has a .sub extension but is in text format.
Each line starts with start and end frame in curly brackets like {startframe}{endframe}texttext textText
Line breaks are entered with pipe (|)

When I try to open it with Subtitle Studio, SS just freezes up, so I guess it is expecting something else than what it actually gets, making me believe that the .sub extension is not correct...
Anyone who knows the source of this sub, and what the extension ought to be?

    /Mats

The format you mentioned is definetly .sub.
Have you tried opening another .sub extension file with subtitle studio?
Maybe the problem is in the software and not in the subfile.

Anyway you can simply manually check for errors. The format you wrote is correct no need for anything else in that file

Thanks - I opened it with "Subtitle Tool" (tomzavodny) and saved it out as SSA. Now Subtitle Studio opens it fine, even if SS has a problem with one of our umlauts (å/Å)...
