  1. hi, new member with hopefully an easy problem to solve.i've been
trying to split a couple of mpegs that are abot 950 megs.my problem
is after splitting them then trying to burn them with nero to make a
vcd i get the message thats its not valid mpeg for making a vcd.
but if i load the original mpeg before splitting to nero,it excepts it
as a valid mpeg.the software i used for editing is TMPGEnc,M2-Edit,
myFlix, and i basically followed the guides on this site to split them.
thats basically my problem hopefully someone will have an easy
    solution for me.
    thanks

  2. hi armand,

i often find the same thing when I use TMPGEnc's MPEG tools to split a big mpg file.

There's a small utility which you'll find in the Tools section of this site (on the left) called MPEG Corrector. This fixes the header of mpg files & usually sorts out the problem.

Use it on the two smaller split files before putting them into Nero, and you should find Nero accepts them as VCD compliant. Also, beacuse it's only changing the header, it's very quick, and there's no loss of quality through re-encoding or anything like that.

    ' hope that helps,

  3. When you use the merge and cut tool in TMPGEnc for cutting VCD's make sure you have the file type set to MPEG1 Video CD and not MPEG1 system(automatic).

If you have already cut them and dont want to do it again you can fix the file headers my doing a simlple multiplex on the file, making sure you have the file type set to MPEG1 Video CD of course.
