  1. Hi,
first post so go easy on me. Am trying to reencode divx files before burning. Been using source range to split the file as its too big for one cdr. Managed to encode the first part into an mpeg fine. However when I tried burning the second part i get this error

    error -537403781 89264

this error message box is displayed each time it moves from frame to frame. This also happens when I try encoding other divx files. I've downloaded gspot and it tells me that the codecs are installed.

I'm really stumped so would appreciate any help anyone could give me.

  3. hi badgerstuta,

Although it's a great program in general, I've found TMPGEnc's source range facility a little buggy in the past - with some video sources (such as DivX files) more problematic than others.

Another alternative that you may well have thought of is to convert the whole file at once (with TMPGEnc), then use TMPGEnc's MPEG tools to split the big mpg in half afterwards.

One final thing is that splitting the mpg with TMPGEnc afterwards sometimes messes up the headers of the files (which means they might not burn properly onto a VCD). The small app 'MPEG Corrector' can fix this, and you'll find it in the Tools section of this site - on the left. (see this other post about this problem with split files.)

    Good luck!

Another method I usually try when splitting, is to load the AVI in VirtualDub and set the "source range" there, and then frameserve to TMPGEnc.
