  1. Just curious....

Is is actually better to get a DVD recorder (Cendyne) for your computer than trying to convert and everything else by just using a DVD ROM Drive (non recorder).

I have the option to buy one for $169, but am wondering if its more 'fun' to make VCD's or not. Is it easy to burn DVD's with a recorder on your computer and does the quality look 'that much better' than SVCD's. Yes, I know you can do it all on 1 disk, but I don't mind swapping CD's on a player either...their cheap too !!

    Just wanted your opinions.

    Thanks.

  2. Quality is DVD quality, not svcd..so yes it looks much.much better. Is it more fun??? Well backing up some dvd's can be, you have to figure out the best bitrate, wether you qwant to keep menu's etc....Personally I use my A03 almost every day.

Dvd burner save you hours of encoding. I speak for myself when I say that I can back up a dvd movie on a dvd-r in 2 to 3.5 hours depending if I am making an iso copy or if I have to split the movie into two dvd-r's. Now some people enjoy re-encoding movies into vcd format for hours or days - thats insane to me. When I back up a dvd, there is no re-encoding - its the same a the origional. So yes, a dvd burner is worth it!

  6. Thanks, everyone, I think I may convinced on going to this route instead of 'screwing' around trying to re-encode all this crap. ...

I think your right...IT'S TOO MUCH DAMN WORK...for me and my computer. The wait is NOT worth to to VCD or SVCD waiting around to see "if you did it right or not!"

    Appreciate the comments folks.
