Please can someone help me, I keep getting a Cilibration area full message when I try to burn a vcd. I just wiped my hard drive clean so I know its not a virus problem and the cd-rs are brand new. I just burned a vcd last week, but all of a sudden I am having problems. Can someone please tell me what might be wrong? thanks

Read this post and see if it solves your problems:

1) The media, although new, maybe bad and trying another brand of CD-Rs may work.
2) The next possible scenario is that your writer's laser is out of alignment and unless you're a computer tech with the right equipment you probably can't fix it yourself; so hopefully your drive is still under warranty and you can send it back to the manufacturer for either a replacement drive or have them fix it. Either way it's time to request a good ol' RMA. -
I agree with deadpac, sometimes bad media can cause a power calibration error to pop up.

I'm no expert and I know this may sound silly, but maybe try physically unplugging your computer from the wall socket for a bit (don't just flip off/on the power switch). I'll explain...
Every once in awhile out of the blue, I'll get an ATIP error of some sort (perhaps "ATIP area full"...can't recall exact wording) while trying to burn a vcd with the latest nero (this has happened 2 or 3 times over the past few months), and the burn fails. I'll pop in a blank cdr out of a spindle, and when I go to burn, the burner's light doesn't come on and after 5 minutes or so, I get the "ATIP full" error (even though no burning actually takes place on the disc, because later after unplugging, I can re-burn onto this same disc successfully). This "error" will happen with every single disc I put in, regardless of brand or speed, until I have unplugged/replugged. Then, as if by magic, all these supposedly "bad" or "ATIP full" cdrs are good and useable again, and the burner works fine.
I don't know why this happens...it just does. Maybe there were power surges from a storm or a shock from my fuzzy slippers or something, or maybe my burner is dying, or maybe something else is shorted out in my system, or maybe my power supply is bad...or maybe the wiring in my house is bad!Hope not!
Anyways, this "simpleton's fix" has worked for me EVERY time this particular problem has come up, so maybe it might help in your situation as well. It certainly can't hurt at least, and sometimes "anything's worth a shot".
Good luck.
