  1. Hello,

I have Win XP pro with a Saoundblaster PCI 16.

When I capture with Virtual VCR, the sound is ok.

But when playing the result avi the volume is way too high.

I tried to lower it in the panel of XP (record panel, not the play one) in it didn't work. The level is always the same.

    Any idea?

    Thanks.

  2. In fact, I can't control the input volume at all.

And when playing it, if I lower the play volume, I still hear the distortion.

  3. If what is happening is what I think is happening, then it sounds like your line-input is getting overloaded. I had a similar problem. Fortunately, I had the equipment to correct it. You may try something similar to what I did if you have some things lying around.

My solution was to run the sound out of the VCR into my DAT recorder. Then I ran digital S/PDIF out to my S/PDIF input on my sound card. I was able to adjust the level using the rec-level on the DAT recorder. You may be able to do the same thing using a cassette deck, except of course using analog out to the sound card.

Another colution that helped with some tapes was to use "Stereo Mixer" instead of "Line-In" on the sound card. It seemed that connection wouldn't get cooked as easily as the Line-In. But the best solution was the use of the DAT recorder. Oh, and if you do something similar, remember to hit "record" on the DAT or cassette deck. You may want to put a junk tape in there and just hit pause and record, just so the sound passes through.

  5. I found it!

I installed the drivers from the creative site even if XP has it's own.

Now I can control the Record-IN volume as I want.
