Problem playing avi with Bplayer

Hey y'all.....any ideas would be great.

I'm having problems playing an avi file (movie) on my pc. I've tried
bplayer, wmp, and intervideo dvd (players that I usually have success
with), but all I'm getting is audio, no video. The screen just shows
up gray on bplayer and wmp. I've installed directx8 and divx5, but
still no go. WHen I installed divx5, I tried it with the player that
comes with download (divx2?), and it actually showed up, but that
player is horrible.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what I'm missing?
If I'm missing codecs, how do I find out what I need?

i just read the faq in this forum, and downloaded the gpost, so i'll
see how that goes. i thought i had all of the correct codecs, so
hopefully this will work.
