Which program will satisfy my wants??

This is what I'd like:
Taking 1 large video (mpeg) and making a dvd out of it with chapters

I want to be able to choose my background
I want to be able to choose a song for the menu
I want to have chapters/scenes on the menu
I want to be able to jump to these chapters through the movie using my remote not just the menu

I don't care for motion menus or anything like that.

I think you'll need more than one program

You just need a DVD authoring program. I use Uleads DVD workshop, which is very good and does support motion menu's, but is a bit pricey. You may find that Uleads DVD movie factory is more suitable for your needs, and its cheaper. See the tools section of this site for DVD authoring applications. Trials of both programs are available.

Just to let everyone know that I d/led Ulead's DVD movie factory and it does exactly what I needed it to do.. I wish there was some more templates for the movie menus (can you d/l them somewhere??).. it's hard to get a title in there.. but besides that the chapters can be f/w with my remote while watching the movie and it's a seamless transition.. very nice!
