  1. I am using the Newbie guide for DVD to DVDR which used DVD2SVCD to reencode to DVDR with some advanced settings. I have ripped a couple of movies and had a little success, but some problems here and there. My question though is in the guide it tells you to untick subtitles, etc...if I wanted to keep the subtitles, would I be able to check them and keep just the English ones? There is no place for "DVD" subtitles under the subtitles option, only SVCD. But I am wondering if I check "SVCD" subtitles, would it work on the DVD??? My total file size of reencoding attack of the clones was about 3.7GB. I read that movie has some parts which aren't hard coated, like an Alien speaking, so for that movie I would like to keep subtitles. If I "CAN" keep the subtitle in English for Attack of the Clones, would it go from 3.7 GB, to over 4.3 GB's? Or would I still be able to fit it on one DVD-R?

Use SubRip to get the subtitles!

    Read this guide:

  3. @adder, thanks again for your response. You have helped me with a few things already and I appreciate it! I am just curious though, ..can I use subrip with DVD2SVCD? Meaning..can I use DVD2SVCD to encode my DVD-R's, and use sub rip seperately...to make a file like chapter xtractor and just save it and add the sub rip file into maestro just like I do the chapters? Please let me know. Also, what method of ripping DVD-r's do you use?

  4. I highly recommend getting DVDXCOPY. It makes an exact dvd duplicate, exept most dvd's require 2 DVD-R's. Thats cause new DVD's use DVD-9 disks which have 2 layers and DVD-R disks are just DVD-5 sigle layer. I made a copy of Episode II and it comes out flawless. Not only do all the menus work but you also get get subtitles. Everything cause its an exact copy. The only downside is it takes two disks, but it looks and sounds as good as the original. It takes less then an hour on my pc to do both disks. I still use DVD2SVCD all the time for XSVCD's but for good flicks I copy with DVDXCOPY by 321 studios.

(You dont have to re-encode DVD-R's! Or did you mean DVD's?)

Yes you can do the video-file with dvd2svcd and then import that file and ac3 and chapters and subtitles in DVDmaestro:

    Doom9's guide:
    http://www.doom9.org/mpg/maestro.htm
(you can skip the menu part if you want)

You can copy DVD-R's with DVD Decrypter's ISO mode:

  7. @ Adder, you have been a big help. I have a guide to Maestro, just not that particular one. I will have to start using those methods. What is your preferred method of backing up DVD's?
