I download the AVI DVDrips and convert them to PAL DVD standard MPG to burn to DVD-R (please don't go on about the horror of converting AVI to MPG, i thinks it looks OK), the problem is a lot of these rips now come with AC3 audio tracks. I use nandub, and have tried virtualdub AC3, to strip the audio and video to seperate files ready for converting. When I test the AC3 file the playback is stuttered, which after some research found out may happen, so I use besweet & the gui to convert the 23.976fps audio to a 25fps audio AC3 file, should fix the stuttering according to a lot of websites. The problem after this is the audio plays back fine but the volume is really low, so low you can't hear it with the speakers at a normal volume.
Was wondering if anyone knows any utilities to strip the AC3 from the AVI without any probs or to fix the stuttering AC3 audio without the drastic volume loss. Remember I need to convert the audio from 23.976 to 25fps to make PAL DVD-R and would like to keep it as AC3 so I have surround sound DVD-R's.
P.S. I also tried a util called AC3fix but this also reduced the volume.
