i have a budget of £400 what is the best software for ripping dvds and authoring and burning any help much appreciated

If you want animated menus, you will need to spend more money. Impression DVD Pro supports animated menus. I THINK Ulead's DVD Workshop also supports them.

Scenarist and DVDmaestro are quite good authoring-softwares...($$$) 8)

is scenarist and maestro the same? i didnt see anything about maestro on those links.
