I want to try to duplicate some dvd's i got. I just got a brand new system. Here are the specs on it:

One drive is a dvdrw and the other is a regular cd rom which can't read dvds. Am i still able to duplicate a dvd? thanks in advance!

Of course you can !
Rip the DVD content onto the hard drive and go from there. It sounds like you're under the impression you could have done a "tape to tape" if the CD-ROM drive was a DVD-ROM, but you can't. If it was that easy, we would all be doing it...Unless you've got a totally unprotected DVD (ie no CSS) you will not be able just to copy the files from one disc to another. You might also have to re-encode the video to make it fit onto a blank.
Check out the tutorials at http://www.doom9.org to get a feel for what you have to do then.
