  1. I know that there are some issues with Nero and Sony DRU-500A drive. It is about not being able to close some disks. Solution was install original version of Nero 5.5.9.17. I know that I have old version becaouse I updatead my before they changed it on web. But if I don't know which version I have, how can I find out if it is allready installed ? I believe that both will show in "About" version 5.5.9.17. Am I right ? This might help some people that are having "close disk" issue.

    (added for search 559170 559171 )

  3. There are 2 versions of NERO 5.5.9.17. One that was released before November 6th 2002 and one released on November 6th 2002.

In that link you can find link to version .0

  4. THis link doesn't seem to work! I am about to get a DRU-500 burner - does it ALWAYS fail with Nero 5.5.9.17.1 (which I think I have - how do I tell?). If so, how can I revert to 5.5.9.17.0?

    Help MUCH appreciated!

  5. I have a DRU 500A and in Nero 5.5.9.17 it fails when trying to burn DVD+R. It says "Cannot Perform End Of Disc-At-Once". This puzzles me and I have no idea on how to fix it.

  6. Mark,

From what I've read, there IS a bug in the very latest version of Nero (5.5.9.17.1) which prevents disc finalising on DVD+R. Apparently, it was fine in 5.5.9.17.0 - but I can't find a way of telling whether you have a '0' or '1' version of 5.5.9.17.

There is 'supposedly' a link somewhere to the 5.5.9.17.0 version (but I can't find it), and the way to fix the discs you've already burned using 5.5.9.17.1 is to use the 'old' version to write a 0 byte file (e.g. empty txt file in Notepad) to the disc, and select 'finalise'.

Please let me know if you have any luck!

    Mark.

  7. If I don't have the "old" version, then should I add that text file to the "new" version? I don't know which one I have.

I emailed Nero support, if I get anywhere with them I will post what they say.

  9. I did intall both versions on my Win2000 laptop (no burner so it is trial version) and here is what I found.

    5.5.9.17.0 or 5.5.9.17 original, before Nov 6th

    nero.exe (4,837,376 bytes) Monday, October 28, 2002, 1:59:26 PM

    5.5.9.17.1 or 5.5.9.17 latest avilable from Nero.com

    nero.exe (4,837,376 bytes) Tuesday, November 05, 2002, 9:02:26 PM

So only difference that I was able to find was Modified Date.

Can somebody confirm my finding or suggest different method ?

5.5.10.0? It's not at http://www.nero.com/en/index, the latest version at this link is 5.5.9.17.
