  1. New bod here so sorry if it's already answered somewhere ( I can't finnd it, honest! ).
I've only just started using vcdeasy, and I have downloaded a film in mpeg format which I wish to convert to vcd. I had problems with seeing it, although I could hear it, but hve now sorted the codecs out. Thing is, vcdeasy doesn't recognise the file format ( even though it's a .mpg ). I have sorted out it is an mpeg layer 3 whatever that means. How do I go about getting vcdeasy to see the file?
    Thanks in advance.

I think this may be an audio file.
You can have mpeg audio files too.
    An Mp3 is mpeg1 layer3.
An mp2 is mpeg1 layer2 I think or something like that.

Try playing it in windows media player.

vcd doesn't support mpeg-1 audio layer 3, it only supports audio layer 2. you'll have to convert it to layer 2.

First you'll have to separate the video and audio (called de-multiplexing). You can use tmpg by going to File-->MPEG Tools. Click on the tab simple de-multiplex. then open your .mpg file then click run. It should give you an audio only file probably with a .mp3 extension and a video file (probably .m1v)

Second encode you audio with tmpg and simple mutiplex in MPEG Tools to put your newly encoded .mp2 file and your original video (.m1v)

P.S. make sure you select in tmpg audio only (not program) above the settings, load, and save buttons.

  6. Sorry to take so long, but when I tried the above, it says illegal MPEG video stream ( I do have to change option to all files to see the file ).
    Any other ideas?
