  3. Alot of people dobut finding the price cheaper is one thing. I looked around myself but its almost pointless. Since I will never get a dvd from another country no need to get it region free, and I'm not plan on putting dvd movies to vhs tape the macrovision is pointless. These features are mostly for people in other countries other then the US. This is why response to that question isn't high.

  4. Oh, but my reason is different. I have a cheap ass TV which doesn't have a decoder and it is dependent on my VCR to watch TV channels. I don't want the VCR output to the receiver since I don't want to turn on my receiver all the time, so the only thing that I hooked up to my receiver is my Dreamcast and my Dvd player. Then the receiver output is plugged to the VCR input. With the macrovision, I can't do that, I have to feed the vcr back into the receiver and have the receiver directly hook to the TV.

  5. they have the apex mod chips for $21 at apexmodchips.com

a friend of mine installed one of these chips in his apex and it works pretty well for him. all he really needed to do was get past the macrovision, i dont know if dvd's from other regions will play in his player though..

he's had quite a few problems with the player itself, after he got one that finally worked good for a while (his 3rd) its been worth it. the only thing that i dont like is the picture quality doesnt seem to be as good as my pioneer..

    maybe its just me though..

    good luck

  7. Don't laugh at me, my friend gave me this TV, a 20' old TV. Yes, I do have VCR, DVD, Receiver, etc, but I don't have a TV because I rented my house and I think I won't be able to move a big TV when I move again. I am saving my money for a projecter TV

  8. I think you can get a 500W mod chip for somewhere between $15 and $18 from Dale Willis - dlw@iname.com - the guy is very honest and reliable. Just ask people on the http://www.nerd-out.com forums.
