  1. Hello,

    Everywhere I look I see people using 2 different resolutions for xSVCD in PAL (besides 480x576 etc.)
    I see pages and people using 704x576 and other people and pages (or even the same, see page "What is SVCD" http://www.vcdhelp.com/svcd where different tabels use different resolutions)

    So what's the best size to use 704x576 (a multiple or 352x288) or 720x576 ?
    There R 3 sides on every story;

    The resolution you choose is up to you. Higher resolutions out of the standard VCDs and SVCDs resolutions increase sharpness in the video but to get the benefits of that you need a higher bitrate or you'll get blockiness in high action scenes.
    So you could choose a lower resolution and then the bitrate can be lower to get the movie on less discs. But you lose the high DVD quality and like the higher resolutions out of the standard usually don't work on standalone DVD Players. That's assuming your player already supports VCDs (commonly supported) and SVCDs.
    Personal preference really. More discs and quality? Or less Discs and quality. There is no other reason to choose a different resolution.
