  1. 1. If a .mpg file requires a divx codec for it play the audio part, will it NOT be able to play on a DVD player or does the DVD player already have all the codecs or something? If not, how do i make it be able to play?

2.If i burn a .mpg or .avi to a CD in either VCD or SVCD format and play it on a TV, will it cover full screen and give me almost or same quality as a cable tv show or something related to that? if not, what quality and resolution should i expect?

    Thanks!

    1. mpeg files do not require divx codec's for the audio .. on any platform.

    2. depends on your capture quality, settings , capture card , playback card, encoder settings , how bad your cable tv is your comparing it to .. and about 1000 other factors .. all in all svcd can be better than cable tv though ..
even VCD is better than SOME cable ..
