First lets just make sure I am making the right decsion. I have read previous posts, done research and Pioneer seems to be the player to get for DVD's VCD's SVCD's and all the DVD+-/RW "backspace whatever other format crap" stuff for a good price. I bought a JVC but it doesn't support any kind or writable DVD's so its going back. Does anyone know how JVC VCD support is? But where in the US can I get a Pioneer, Circuit City doesn't have them Best Buy doesn't have them, who does, Thanks.

This doesn't exactly answer your question but...
If you go for the Pioneer-737, it does support SVCD via a workaround. If you look at the reviews page, you'll see that it ultimately supports XSVCD - which is even better unless you're wanting to buy Standard-Compliant SVCDs.
I'd buy this DVD player again, if I had to choose.SUPPORT : http://www.fightdivx.com

ok, guess I should have given a price range, something under or around $150 I don't need anything fancy like progressive scan and I don't have a reciever, surround sound or any of that stuff. Thanks.

Pioneer DV-250 @ Walmart for $98 is your best bet to me. Do a search in th DVD players forum.
