  1. In the excellent article on CVD on this site I've read that MPEG 5.1 audio is possible with the CVD format.

I'm using TMPGenc to encode to CVD and have a separate AC3 48Khz 5.1 384k audio file.

How do I make sure I retain the MPEG-2 Multi channel 5.1 surround audio?

    Any help would be appreciated.

  2. AC3 is Dolby Digitial audio. It is NOT multichannel MPEG-2 audio.

I don't know if there is a good Windows method yet but the only method I've read about in making mc-MPEG-2 audio involved using Linux tools.

It probably isn't worth you while, however, as unless you have the uncommonly rare combination of a DVD player that can output mc-MPEG audio digitally AND a digital receiver that can decode it correctly, it isn't going to work.

All I'm trying to do is retain the surround sound of the movie I'd like to make CVD of. Idea is to create such MPEG2 stream which is OK for a CVD, but can also be put on a DVD-R without any re-encoding. I've got the video part covered 1/2 D1 and all, but am struggling with keeping the surround sound in...
