ok, still me and my new mobo not supporting my aiw 128.
before the soccer world cup in korea/japan, i bought this terratec tv value card to installed it in my office, so i could watch games while at work.
now i have this card at home and i was wondering if i could use it for video capturing, buying just a video card to replace my aiw.
does any of you own it and use it?
i've tried to install it under winme, with original drivers no more than 288 vertical resolution, with alternate drivers from bt..... the program that came with the card doesn't work anymore, but virtualdub accepts higher vertical res.
capturing at 720x576 results in more dropped frames than the ones captured ....
hope somebody can give me an hint, no one did for my question about VIVO card and i'm quite desperate.

I have it and use it in WinXP with btwincap drivers. For TV viewing try using DScaler, it's a lot better than the software that came with the card.

I have no problems capturing with Virtual Dub using PicVideo MJPEG @ Q19 or huffuv (YUV2 color space)(as long as I'm not capturing an old VHS tape). Turn both the preview and overlay off before capturing, it has a huge effect on CPU usage. -
RoopeT, thanks a lot, you were very kind.
if you can, please answer me to these other two questions:
1) did you try using the card under w98?
2) do you know where can i find dscaler?
thanks again for your kind reply, many cheers, jeremy. -
I have a dual boot system, Win98SE and WinXp. In Win98 I'm using some pretty old Terratec VfW drivers. Capturing works fine with these drivers and VirtualDub @ full res, but I have to tick "Swap fields" under the Video tab. Also, preview and overlay modes off.
You can find DScaler @ www.dscaler.org (surprize?) -
RoopeT, don't shoot me if i ask you last question: do you know where can i find vfw drivers?
thanks and thanks again for your help, you seem to be the only one owning this card, while there is nobody owning a radeon VIVO card (interesting, isn't?), i guess i'll try this way, buying a simple video card and using the terratec card for capturing, if it doesn't work, well, wtf, i'll buy another capture card sesigned just for this purpose.
cheers, jeremy. -
VfW drivers: http://www.terratec.co.uk/support/drivers/terratvalue_drivers.htm
If you already have btwincap drivers installed and working I wouldn't change these back to VfW drivers. The Terratec TV viewing software isn't that great.
I'm certainly not the only one owning this card but many low-end (or low-price) capture card buyers us their card only for viewing TV and haven't spent that much time to figure out how to use their card to it's full potential -
RoopeT, you're nice person.
thanks a lot for your help, when i'll buy the new video card i'll make all tries and see if this terratec does the job.
wish you well, cheers, jeremy.
