  1. I was going to purchase a Pan E30 to transfer VHS movies to DVD, but what can I do about the copy protection problem? Do most VHS movies from the past 10 years have this protection? How do you know which tapes have it?
Sorry if this is a dumb series of questions.
    Thanks,

    I have a SIMA unit I use.

I also suggest you test the tape a few minutes worth out using the DVD-RAM. IF it records ok then record/dupe to DVD-R. By testing to DVD-RAM first, you can erase the test run. You do not need to test record the whole movie, just a few minutes of the main movie, not the intro or previews.

That should save you a couple coasters.

    Good luck.
