  1. What is the best way to convert AV's with AC3 sound into mpg? VirtualDub can't extract the audio information into a wav file. I was told to use GraphEdit, but can't get it to work or find a description of the filters to use. Isn't there a better way?

Set Audio to direct stream copy and save the "wav". Rename the "wav" to file.ac3. Load this into HeadAC3he and convert to wav (or .mp2) depending on your preferred method.

You can get HeadAC3he from http://darkav.de.vu/ Any problems running it - then make sure you have correct .dlls to suit your CPU (also from the above site).

  3. Thanks. It worked, and fast. No lets hope its in sync after encoding the SVCD. But i will also check the GraphEdit approach and compare the sound quallity.

I had good success using Goldwave to extract wav audio when other prog's wouldn't.

  5. :P Both ways work and deliver a 700MB wav in minutes (with a 266+ LoL). Qallity equals and its in sync (at least SVCD's, VCD's are allways junk if burned with WinOnCD). So it's a question of taste. Thanks for all replies. Jim over and out
