I really want to make divx movies as opposed to mpeg or avi, however, i was only able to successfully make one divx movie and that was of Spiderman. The finalized size was just over 840 megs for a 2 hour movie and i was really impressed by that.

But here is my problem, i want to make other movies out of divx, but Flask always gives me this error message:

"there was a problem while parsing the IFO file. Read the documentation for its possible causes"

this comes right after the first step of just going to file>opendvd.

right when i click "flask this DVD" this error occurs..

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  2. Probably because you didn't rip your DVD properly.

Use DVD Decrypter to rip the entire disc OR use SmartRipper in File Mode to do the same.

FlaskMPEG expects the IFO file and VOB files referenced to be in their original state minus CSS encryption only. If you use Smart Ripper in Movie Mode, it may not work.

  4. It isn't so much you didn't rip your DVD right but just not right for FlaskMPEG...

I still use a pretty OLD version of DVD Decrypter simply because it hasn't failed me yet and I don't see any benefit in the newer ones... but on mine, you simple select ALL the VOB/IFO/etc. files on the window and press "rip" or "go", etc.

If on the newer version you have an option of IFO parsing, turn that OFF. You want whatever ripper you are using to do no more than remove CSS encryption from the VOB files. FlaskMPEG has its own IFO parser so for that to work, the VOB files must be arranged / "look" like what it does on the DVD (minus CSS).

  5. BTW, I see that you are making DivX. Rather than using the original FlaskMPEG, you may benefit from using the DivX oriented XMpeg build...

Also, have a look at the guides at http://www.doom9.org There are plenty of other ways of making DivX and many of them are arguably better than using FlaskMPEG...

  6. in dvddecryptor, goto options and UNCHECK "multi-angle processing"...

if you let the ripper remove any multiangles or seamless branching, flask won't be happy
