  1. I have a Sony DRU-500A, using a Radeon 7500 video card. My computer has 512 MB of memory with a 1.2 Gigahertz processor. I have over 80 Gigs of space available.

I am trying to capture VHS and laserdisc images to MPEG-2 images to be burned on DVD..

However, the capture program (Sonic MyDVD 4.0) often and unpredictably will suddenly read "MyDVD cannot detect a signal on the selected video source. Please make sure you have a device connected and that is a NTSC device" even though there is clearly an image on display. This occurs whether I use a high quality S-VHS cable or composite cable.

The only reason I prefer capturing video on Sonic MyDVD is because I can insert chapter stops. I can't do the same when I capture using the Radeon video card capture program (which incidentally, captures video great and can detect a signal with no problems at all).

Any ideas on what to do? Can you recommend a program that will allow insertion of chapters after the MPEG image has been made?

    Thank you!

I have the same program and I had the same problem. From what I read on their website, there are only two capture cards that MYDVD will read to capture. ATI and Dazzle.

So needless to say I am a little upset at that.

  3. That is hella annoying, isn't it? Does this mean I have to get a new video card? I'd rather get another program that allows me to capture and insert chapter stops than give Sonic MyDVD any further support.
