I am using Nero 5.5.9.17 to burn a VCD, the file I have is a 20 min .avi and when Nero encodes it and then burns it and it then plays fine on my DVD Player, but if I need to make another copy I have to encode it again and this is the time consuming part, is there a way to just encode an .avi file just once and what would be needed?
Thanks,
Zetor

first up a simple rule is Never use nero to convert with, its great for burning thats about it
Download a copy of TMPGEnc and use this I do belive you will be able to find a link to it in the Tools section over on the left of the screen there.
There is also guides on how to convert using TMPGEnc under the How To section click on ConvertThe Hellsing family will purify this world...
