Does anyone know if dual P3 667 Xeons with 256kb of cache would encode/decode quicker than a single P4 2.26ghz CPU with a 533mhz FSB?

Post your question in 1 forum only.
And I would say no, I believe when encoding and utilizing a second CPU you can only expect a 60% increase in speed, even with both at 100% you are talking 1.3GHz vs 2.2Ghz -
But its 2 seperate CPUs, and they're Xeons. Wouldnt that be more processing power than a single CPU?

I don't know much about dual processor systems, so someone with more knowledge on the subject may contadict me here. But I would have thought the P4 would be quicker.

Absolutely.
In terms of raw processing power, 2 x 667 MHz P3s (Xeon's or otherwise) would be quite far behind a single 2+ GHz P4.
