I recently purchased a philips 793 DVD/changer. Very nice. It plays everything SVCD/VCD/DVD/MP3 (Although SVCD needs to stay within the bitrate spec. or the audio squawks) Anyway, I thought I would try the subtitles feature with an SVCD (I use DVD2SVCD newest version). They work, however it only works about half the time. One spoken sentence will appear and the next will not. If I play the same segment again, it might show a sentence that previously wasn't displayed but it might omit a sentence that previosly WAS displayed. I don't know if there is any way to fix this, put if there is it would be great to get it working.
Also, I tried different burn speeds and different media with the same results. I really don't want to burn them on permanantly either.
Thanks for any replies

well, the sure way would be to hardcode the subs to integrate them directly into the video itself...
however, i'm guessing your dvd player just doesn't support removable subs...you can check in the dvd compatibility section on this website to see what your dvd player supports. if "subs" is scratched out, then your player doesn't support removable subs.
