  1. hi all how is capping at 352x480 and then encoding at 352x240 any different than capping at 352x240 from the get to? will the quality be better if i cap at 352x480 and encode at 352x240? i am making a vcd. but i have read tons of posts that say if your gonna make vcd cap higher and then resize down? thanks

    The reason is because many capture cards only capture 1 field per frame if you capture at a vertical resolution of 240. If you capture at the full vertical resolution (i.e., 480), these capture cards will capture both fields of the frame.

    If you only capture 1 field per frame, you are losing up to HALF of the video data!!

    Capturing at the full vertical resolution (and then resizing down +/- deinterlace) looks noticable better and what you should notice is that the picture is sharper and there is relatively less video noise.
