Just read about it on slashdot.org. Can't wait to try tonight.
I have an older PS2 and modchip, can play PS1 backups, hope it doesn't require game genie or swap disk...

Well, made two coasters
Both cds I made start to boot, say "playstation", then that's it.
If anyone gets this to work, I would greatly appreciate a step by step...

I tried it last night on my PAL PS2 and it worked fairly well

the quality is pretty much what you can expect from a divx on a large screen

i find the whole thing pretty impressive anyway

it's very straightforward : just burn the 3 files + the .avi with Nero

settings are :
ISO tab : ISO LVL2 / MODE 2/XA / ISO9660 / nothing else checked
burn tab : method : DAO/96

that's it

...and yes you need a modchip, or at least a swap trick i guess

Tried 3 diff discs burned as the instructions with the player being added on the disc, all 3 worked and all 3 on diferent media, quality as good as the encoder has allowed

burn what 3 files with the avi exactly?? dunno what you mean.. plz tell me so i can understand

I guess the 3 files of the media player.. its not that you install the media player once i guess but you have to have the media player on each cd you burn

ok i downloaded the file's on that site and i tried to use that cdgenps2 program, but it crashes all the time.. all i do is drag the avi file to it and then the cdvd.irx, mplayer.elf and the system.cnf file. after i hit img to save (i can save as a .bin or a .iso, wich should i pick?) and when i hit save he suddenly the program suddenly crashes.. my hard drive begins to load like mad and all i can do then is to shut it down.. im using xp prof, but i expect that has nothing to with it.. so i need a little help

Ps2 games aren't that cheap i agree but what do you think a ps3 game is gonna cost? at least the same and probebly more... not even speaking about a ps3 console.. so i don't think purchasing a ps2 or xbox is a bad idea...

hey susie, i went searching for the release date for the PS3 and i'ts so 'not' around the corner... only if u think somewhere in 2005 is near.. so u really should have a second thought about buying a ps2 or xbox

Since there are several flavors of Linux that runs on a chipped XBox, there's also DivX players available. take a look at xbox-linux.sourceforge.net.
If that doesn't satisfy you, http://www.xboxhacker.net/ talks about a XBox media player, that I'm sure will play DivX...

what do you think DiVX is ? its even more compressed (encoded) than mpeg files are .. DiVX is just a type of mpeg4 ..
