    Third party capture applications not supported:
    The WinTV PVR 250 records directly to MPEG using onboard Hardware encoders. Most third party capture applications are looking to attach to a card or driver that supports uncompressed video recordings. Like AVI files. These programs cannot capture video directly using the PVR250.

    At this time there are no other apps, so you'll need to get used to wintv2k (wich I totaly agree is not a great program,..but it works)

    Well there is one 3rdparty tool it called WindowsXP Media Center Edition how ever there are some major downside to it YOU CAN NOT BURN IT AS REG DVD & YOU NOT EDIT THE VIDEO which some that MS forgot about, but the good news there working on it and I don't think can record or make VCD/SVCD with this.

  3. there is one downside to MCE, it is only available if you buy a entire PC.
    (official,....., there is of course a website wich has some instructions on getting it work with a 250 if you got a hold off it anyway )
