Sound problem on Bush 2004 player

Have Bush 2004 DVD player, running through Toshiba video to television set (because TV set does not have scart socket)

Does anyone recognise this problem please ?

Music CDs play through TV fine.

Home recorded DVDs play through TV fine.

Shop purchased DVDs, picture fine but sound comes in for about two seconds in every ten.

Is there something wrong with the machine or am I missing something in the settings?

Any assistance much appreciated.

Please disregard posting, transpires that there is nothing wrong with the player, I need to buy a new TV set.
