Creating a VCD to play in my Home DVD player from MPG format

I've got Roxio Easy Cd Creator -
I've downloaded a mpeg encoder
I've converted the MPEG file to VCD format -
Then I used Cd creator to record the VCD mpg to the cd.
When I put the cd into the dvd player, it says disc dirty. I've tried fooling around with it 3 differnt times and nothing- any help would be greatly appreciated, and I thank you for taking the time to read my msg. I hate being a newbie sometimes... Thanks guys/gals!

I have never used Roxio, but get Nero Burning Rom and load the mpeg into it using the VCD creation, it will automatically make it a vcd and it should play. Unless your dvd player is one that can't play VCD's.
