  1. 1st things 1st....

Can anyone tell me that AFTER ripping a movie from a program called CLAD, is it POSSIBLE to convert it over using a program called DVDX? After CLAD is done, I get .vob extensions on my files. In DVDX, it asks for an .IFO extension.
IF IT IS, my problem has been solved...I think...

But anyway, I have ripped a movie from CLAD and it WILL NOT TOTALLY convert over when I use the program FLASK. I have followed ALL the instructions, ver batim, from Replicant Tutorial, and IT WILL NOT CONVERT THE WHOLE MOVIE AT THE END!! At the end of converting using a program called Flask, I DO NOT GET 1 HUGE FILE CALLED VideoOut.mpg at the end. When I open vts_01_1.vob...it will NOT go to vts_01_2.vob. But freezes up at the end will 19.625% done and I get:

NOTE: The resulting file may not play back correctly. Try increasing the mux rate.

I have tried this 3 times and STILL get the same result..

    Please help or offer suggestions.

    Thanks.

  2. i have never liked flask. it takes to dam long. dvdx is much faster but you can't do anything else while it is running. after you are done ripping the dvd with clad you should have like 4 or more vob files and a ifo file. so open up dvdx and load the ifo file. you will get some error messages but that is normal. then just encode the dvd to either vcd or svcd.

  3. Hi Ghoster...and thanks....

The problem is is that after I "rip" a movie, "ANIMAL HOUSE", from CLAD, IT DOES NOT give me an .ifo file!!! I ONLY get 6 files that start with vts_01_0.vob....and the last is vts_01_5.vob!

Should I try ripping this whole movie again?

In the Replicant software that I purchased, the tutorial that comes with it in case you do use CLAD, shows that there are nothing BUT .vob files....and nothing else. This is what I have. I would love to see an .ifo file, but don't.

    Any suggestions? Thanks.

  4. Hmmm.
Try another ripper,Smartripper or dvd decrypter for example. There should be ifo file.

  5. Thanks.

Strange world we live in. I tried SmartRipper, which I thought was pretty good and easy to use, but the Audio music (Animal House) does NOT rip 'cleanly' at the beginning. It does it in other chapters also and is annoying. CLAD did it cleanly...

I haven't tried the other you suggested and don't know much about it. Is there a web site to download the program?

I still wish DvDX would convert an .vob file. Does it, or can I make it do it? Or do I still need a .ifo file anyway to do this.

I have a Nero burner, so this middle step is the ONLY problem I have to fix.

Thanks for all of your responses.

  6. Well, I think Flask is a great piece of software...

The quality is more than worth it and the fact that you can PAUSE and RESUME your encoding with safety (and use other proggies at the same time) is a great bonus...

With Flask, use DVD Decrypter to decrypt the ENTIRE disc or use SmartRipper in File Mode to do the same thing.

Then, use Flask to load up the relevant IFO file.

You should make sure that your version FlaskMPEG is installed correctly / well. I suggest that you delete whatever version you have at the moment and go to doom9 to download v0.6 prev1.1 AND the "subtitle fixed" version. I can't quite remember if the "subtitle fixed" distribution is a stand-alone version or if it is meant to be copied over the v0.6 prev1.1 installation but either way, copying the new files over the older installation definitely works...

bbMPEG which is the included MPEG encoder with Flask is slow and not the best. I suggest that you get the Panasonic MPEG Encoder plugin v2.51. This, however, is commercial software. There is a demo at the Panasonic site (you can find the link somewhere on this page: http://www.vcdhelp.com/tools ).

    Best of luck.

  7. Michael...thank you...you may end up being a life savor.

I'm at work now, but will later tonight when I get home. Thanks again for the help. I've been up late pulling my hair out on this damn thing.

  8. Hmmm. Never liked Clad. DVD Decrypter is really good. As far as flask goes... Gordian Knot is my fav, sure is a bit harder, but the results are so much better... You never look back.

  9. FlaskMPEG is pretty good for standard VCDs, fantastic for hard-encoded subtitles and fantastic if you like using the Panasonic MPEG encoder.

If you like using TMPGEnc, it is not so good.

If you are going to be making a SVCD or a multipass encoding, you should be using some other method (e.g., DVD2AVI + frameserving).

  10. Is there a sight out there in which I can get the program to convert to SVCD instead of VCD? Where can I find this?

    Thanks.

  12. Vitualis...

How do I get the 'subtitle version' over to the Flask program you recommended. I downloaded the program fine, but the subtitle won't come over. I get a "no plugin found" and now have no idea what to do next.

    Please help.

  13. Flask 0.6 preview: http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Decoders/flaskmpeg_dvd_060_preview.exe

    Install the above.

    Then Flask 0.6 prev1.1: http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Decoders/Flaskv6_preview2.zip

Unzip the above into the installation folder.

Then Flask 0.6 subtitled fixed version: http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Decoders/FlasKMPEG_06_SubfixV6_2.rar

Then unrar (WinRAR: http://www.winrar.com ) that into the installation directory as well. You may or may not need to get then prev1.1 zip file if you are going to use Flask 0.6 subtitled fixed version. I just don't remember.

  14. Vitualis...

I am having problems downloading the 'subtitle fixed' program. I get an error saying I'm not allowed to get into that through doom9. Anyway you can just e-mail it to me, perhaps, at:

    wxman@flash.net

Still not 100% sure on how to get it into my Flask, which I have downloader successfully and am now using.

    Thanks.

  15. No OUTPUT plugins were found is the error I get when I try to download it. It says read the instruction manual. Hell, where DO I find that?

  16. I forgot, doom9 doesn't allow direct linking...

Download the necessary files at: http://www.doom9.org/software.htm

You need to install Flask 0.6 preview first (the first link I gave you). This includes the full installation of Flask (all the output plugins, etc.).

THEN copy over the updates (e.g., the subtitle fixed version in the RAR file) into the directory.

The "manual" comes with the Flask installer. It's an html file in a subdirectory. If you don't see it, it means that you didn't install this: http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Decoders/flaskmpeg_dvd_060_preview.exe (remember, you have to actually go to the doom9 page to download it as they don't allow direct linking).

  17. Vitalis.

I have copied over everything EXCEPT the subtitle fixed. STILL, have NO idea how to get it and into the program.

    Everything else is ready.

  18. Um, the subtitle fixed version is a RAR file. This is a compressed archive like ZIP. To open it up and extract stuff from it you need WinRAR (link above).

Once you can open up the RAR file, unrar the contents (it contains an updated FlaskMPEG.exe file as well as a few updated plugins) into the FlaskMPEG folder, overwriting any of the original files.
