  1. I am trying to fix an AVI file with VirtualDub MP3-Freeze. After removing the bad frames I select Audio, Direct Stream Copy and Video, Direct Stream Copy. File, Save AVI.

After a while I get this error:

AudioStreamSource error: file read error (8004406d)

The process of saving a new AVI stops.

Don't know what this means and how to fix it. Any suggestions?

  2. Try this:

open .avi (make sure bad frames are gone).
Audio > Full Processing > Audio > Conversion > Choose Rate (44100 for vcd) > Audio > Compression > No Compression > file > Save WAV.......
This will be quite a large file (so I hope its your intention to encode it)

    then open .avi again and...
Audio > No Audio >Video > Direct Stream > File > Save as AVI

then open recently streamed .avi....(without audio).
Audio > Wav Audio > Load WAV file > Video Direct Stream > File > Save As AVI.

How can I make sure the bad frames are gone? After fixing the bad frames and trying to save the .AVI file I get the error.

    I tried this:
    1) Deleting all bad frames.
    2) Audio > Full Processing > Audio > Conversion > Choose Rate (44100 for vcd) > Audio > Compression > No Compression > file > Save WAV.......

This results in a .WAV file of 0 bytes.

    Then I tried this:
    1) Deleting all bad frames.
    2) Audio > Direct Stream Copy > Audio > Conversion > Choose Rate (44100 for vcd) > Audio > Compression > No Compression > file > Save WAV.......

This produces the same error: AudioStreamSource error: file read error (8004406d)

  4. When you open it in Virtualdub...what does the File Information say under Audio? (ie:AC3/MP3..etc,etc)
How about just opening the file, audio Direct Stream and save as WAV?

    Audio Info:
    Sample Rate: 48000Hz
    Channels: 2 Stereo
    Sample Precision: 0-bit
    Compression: MPEG Layer-3 Codec (professional)
    Preload skew:
    # frames: 303046

Direct stream audio produces same error.
But I don't give up that easy!

Thanx for your help so far wee, really appreciate it.
