  1. What is the best way to get file information from a video file downloaded from the net? I am farmiliar with tmpg and nero. I would like to encode video into other formats other than vcd but would like to know all about the original file I downloaded. What the fps, resolution(640X480?)(720X700)so on,.. source? VGA(1:1) or (4:3).......This way when I encode I can be more accurate.

I tried windows media player but it says tatistics unavalible.

  2. In windows, right click the file in explorer and select properties. Not too bad info given on the summary tab in XP and 2k.
OR better still, open the file in virtualdub and select file->file information. Gives a more detailed report

BTW, files downloaded from the net in avi format should always be encoded with the source aspect ration set as 1:1 (VGA) in TmpGenc
