Help! having trouble frameserving to TMPGEnc

I'm trying to framserve TMPGenc from Virtual Dub. I've followed instruction (start frameserver in VD, name it X.vdr) but when I try to load the .vdr into TMPGenc I get the error message "cannot open or unsupported."

I've tried switching VD to Direct Stream Copy but still no luck. The file I'm serving is a DV AVI.

Anyone have any ideas?

In TMPG go to option > environmental settings >VFAPI-plugin and change the priority of the plugins. With me the direct show filter works fine but maybe you have to raise the priority of the avisynth/vdub script reader.

The exact thing happened to me when I was missing the file "msvcr40.dll"
I think I had to install it under the "tmpgenc" directory.
