  1. I'm not sure which forum this goes in so i just posted it here. I want to save a concert that will be broadcasted with streaming media, does anyone know how to save it?

  2. It depends what type of stream - Real, Windows Media (ASF), other?

    Briefly:

    1) Usually you can look in the web page it is imbedded in or on the URL in the browser if a direct window and get the file name. If you make a small web page with that URL as the link you can open it in the browser, click to verify the file plays, then right click and you can Save As to your HD.

    2) Some files when played are in the browser cache. Look in the \Windows\Temporary Internet Files folder (or equiv Mac, Unix) for large files

Some files take a bit more detective work - there have been other posts on these methods in the forums.

  3. To save RealMedia you need StreamboxVCR, the only proggie for downloading RM files.

To save Windows media use one of these two:
    ASFRecorder:
    http://www.mpegx.com/files/video/asfrecorder_v1.1.zip
    HiNetRecorder:
http://music.hoonnet.com/productdown/HiNetRecorderSetup.exe (read about using it here: http://www.hoonnet.co.kr/english/product_recorder.html)
But AFAIK live streams are very difficult to save

  4. i have noticed that a lot of video clip seem to have bothersome redirect URL's so that you can't save clip as a target. does STREAMBOXVCR handle this crappy tactic? i have heard that STREAMBOXVCR needs crack mods so that it wont try to 'phone-home', and for other things. but, the STREAMBOXVCR underground-site seems to be closed down, so i cant look this answer up. does anybody know the answer to these question? gracias.

there is another rm stream recorder (it acts as a proxy, you set real player to download thru the program, and the program saves the stream) its still like mega beta, but i cant find the site, all i have is the program, acdcdebug.exe , if anyone remembers the link, i'd much appreciate it... also, i've heard you can use xfileget, but streamboxvcr and xfileget are very not user friendly, whereas asfrecorder is nice and easy....

  6. To make streamboxVCR user friendly read my instructions:

Get StreamBox VCR and the patch available here: (just sign up, it takes one minute and you can use bogus info)

    http://groups.yahoo.com/group/buzzinhornetz2001

And also get URLSnooper and ASFRecorder (all available there)

Then read these instructions and post and questions at this site

    Search Comp PM
For those pop-up windows with the embedded player that don't give a URL all you have to do is play the video a little then do a file search for the appropriate RealMedia file in the Temporary Internet Folder. Then you just highlight it, press Shift and right click on the file. Choose open with... and choose Wordpad or Notepad. The URL will appear in the file.
I just D/Led Daft Punk's anime videos from Toonami's web site using Streambox VCR, but each time I play them the embedded HTML pages keep popping up.Will these go away when I convert them to MPEG?
