  1. So sorry if this appears somewhere. I thought I posted this a few days ago, but did not find it.

Anyway, I have a HS2 and I was wondering if there's a way to avoid burning a disk with a menu. If I only have one program I'm burning, I'd like it to just start playing.

Can anybody clue me here? Or is that just the way it is...

    Thanks!

  2. Hi,

I find this strange I have an HS2, but have only burned a DVD-R, with one track. When I played the DVD-R back it started playing straight away, with no menu, infact their was no mention of a menu being placed on it before I wrote it.

  3. On the one DVD-R I burned, also with just one track, it too did the menu thing for no particular reason. Since they're not the most gorgeous menus (DANG, I wish I could figure out a good way to put nice menus on with my 'puter and DVDIt without having a bunch of steps and hours and hours of re-encoding), I, too, would love to get rid of that when there's just the one program.

  4. As far as I know, the HS2 uses the same menu system as the dmr-e30 which I have. I'm fairly certain there is no way to switch it off but the way i think you can get by is to buy a Toshiba SD-M1612 dvd-rom drive. Specs are:

    Interface: ATAPI (ATA Packet Interface).
    Formats supported:
    DVD-ROM : DVD-ROM, DVD-Video, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD-RAM
    CD-ROM : CD-ROM, CD-ROM XA, CD-DA, CD-I, CD-I Bridge, CD-MIDI, CD-G, CD-RW, CD-R, CD-TEXT Multisession (Photo-CD,CD-EXTRA)

The important bit being DVD-RAM. - That way you can record to dvd ram then rip to yer pc without wasting a disc.

Trade price on the Toshiba is about £33 + 17.5% vat - not really any more expensive than a normal branded dvd-rom drive.

  6. listen, its very easy!

I use stomp record now max to burn dvd's. once stomp is loaded just add the main video file or files to from the directory and click record. thats it! you can preview the movie file by opening it with wmp or dvd player software.

for other people, menus are easy I use a couple authoring programs.
a super easy one to use is dazzle dvd complete. it auto generates menus with music and everything. it comes with 40 template menus to chose from! you can also burn them with this software e-mail me with questions
