  1. Hi I've been trying to make a mpeg1 based dvd to put the first season of smallville on which i downloaded I've converted the file to this format MPEG-1 Video 29.970 fps 352x240 1150kbps and converted the audio to MPEG-1 Layer II audio at 48000 16 Bit Stereo. I've tried a lot of different programs to try and make a dvd compliant vcd-dvd but all of them want to re encode or do something different can someone tell me how I can make this vcd-dvd with Ulead DVD Workshop? Does it need to convert the video to mpeg2 and at the end when it says make disc do I need to make a custom template with the same settings as my video/audio mentioned above?? When I do this it says MPEG Audio is not a standard audio type for NTSC DVD. I'm really struggling to make this and i've been playing around with this for a week!

    TIA

I just finished a DVD-R with two mpeg1 movies that I converted the sound to 48k but, I authored with Sonic DVDit SE. The movies were each about an hour long and after authorizing the DVD was just over 3gig. DVDit did some conversion on the sound and video. After it was done(took a long time) I used Nero to burn.

  3. Sorry I don't know about Ulead DVD WS in this respect but Dazzle DVD complete will do what you want and not -re-encode anything.

DVD workshop can do this without converting, I have just put the whole first season of friends (encoded with TMPGEnc) onto 1 XVCD-DVD disc. Are you editing the mpegs at all, ie cutting them in workshop.

  6. I've managed to do it now the problem I had was I needed to register to get the latest update to 1.3 and the "do not re encode" option appeared it takes a long time still up to 2 hours but that's better than the 6 or 7 hours it was taking in the end i did this :
downloaded the smallville episodes converted the audio to 48000 put them into ulead dvd workshop put the mpegs onto to a menu at the end i created a custom profile with the settings of VCD ie : frame size 352x240, constant bitrate of 1150 Audio set to mpeg audio, stereo, 48000, 224. and then hit make disc it said mpeg audio was not meant for dvd's blah blah and i just choose continue a little while later I have 10 episodes of smallville on a dvd that works in my standalone!

i want to know if you can burn a cvd as a dvd. I know you can but when i make a CVD i make it with 48000khz so then it really isnt a cvd but it will still play if i burn it as a non standard svcd. ok now like if i want to burn 3 cvd movies on a DVD+R how do i do it just Drag the mpg files of the movies in to the authoring program and it will create the ifo and Bup files automatically.

    Thanks in advance.
