Ok i justed ripped a pal movie and dvd2avi says its progressive except the first warner logo is interlaced,after the first logo it change's to progressive and stays.So i done to quick tests one progressive,one interlaced,both top field first as bitrate viewer had it down for top field first,but when i played them back on my pc and standalone there was no difference both looked the same.

Normally pal movies are interlaced.

So what should i encode it as,??

should i do interlaced as a tv displays interlaced?

Most dvd-movies are partially both interlaced and progressive.Use smartdeinterlace,it does it's job when needed.
