    chimaera15,

you should list your specs under "computer details" so people can see
    what your system consist of.

anyways, yes, you can. I'll assume you have a SB live or close enough
    sound card in your PC.

On your DV cam, locate your A/V out connection area (usually is a yellow
circle) This is where you can hook your Audio connects to, and send them
to your Sound cards Aux or Line-in.
Then, you can open up your SoundRecord app (if you have SB card)
and set it to "whatyouhear" (if memory serves me)
Then, press the DV cam's play button, and while it's playing, w/sound,
begin your SoundRecorder's app in "record" mode.
This will record to a *.wav file.

Or, use another SoundRecording app that is "generic" to all sound cards.

    Another alternative is to:
    * continue the same route as capturing, only capture the sound part w/out
video. If you can't turn video off, then it's not beggy. In any case, if you're
stuck with the capture route, then just don't use a high resolution. Instead,
just a small one (to conserve HD space) lke 160x120.
    * then, in vdub, use File/SaveWAV...

    That's it.
